Jon Adame is a trusted Washington insider with nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of policy and politics. A lawyer by training, Jon is known for his calm under pressure, sharp instincts, and practical approach to solving difficult challenges when the stakes are high.
Before joining Mehlman Consulting in 2025, Jon served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), where he helped shape the Senator’s legislative strategy across the Senate Commerce, Judiciary, Armed Services, and Finance Committees. He also led critical legislative initiatives, managed real-time crisis response, and built coalitions around tech policy issues including artificial intelligence, telecom regulation, consumer protection, and online safety. Jon also played a key role in securing Senator Blackburn’s appointment as Counselor to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and helped lead the Senator’s work as Chair of the Republican National Committee’s 2024 Platform Committee. He also helped Senator Blackburn manage her responsibilities with respect to President Trump’s transition, including vetting cabinet appointees and other nominees.
Before rising to the role of Chief of Staff, Jon served as General Counsel and led the Senator’s tech and regulatory policy work. He also guided the Senator’s team through two Supreme Court confirmations and two Senate impeachment trials. Jon originally joined then-Congressman Blackburn’s team as Legislative Counsel and Policy Coordinator for the House Energy & Commerce Committee’s Communications and Technology Subcommittee, where he helped innovative companies navigate Washington and built bipartisan support for emerging issues. Earlier in his career, he worked on campaigns across the country, with a focus on opposition research, messaging, and strategy.
